Here is a list of my 10 favorite books from 2019!

01

Karen Slaughter - Met her discussing the launch of a new book.  A facinating author, her writing style is direct, not mincing words making it easy for the reader to understand the passion she has for the story.

02

Ernest Hemingway - A Farewell to Arms and

What can be said about this book?  It's Hemingway at his finest.

03

Greg Iles - Natchez Burning

What happened between 1960 and 1970 in the deep south

04

U.S. Grant - Ron Chernow

Like the other biographies he's done, this one stands out by its simplicity and exploring controversial topics of the persons life.  US Grant was a true hero and protector of the belief that all Americans are protected by the constitution.  He discusses in detail Grant's drinking and the perception he was drinking.  It surpasses other biographies because of his writing and the details of the subject.

05

Red Sparrow - Jason Matthews

Russian intrigue is a subject detailed in many books since the time of Alexander the Great.  This series of books provides a glimpse into the inner workings of the CIA and how a strong woman survives the secrets.

06

Lee Child

I would love to meet the real Jack Reacher.  The series spans many years and each one tells the story of how Jack stumbles onto a mystery that he is the only one tough enough to solve.  Lee Child publishes a new book annually because of his writing process.  I wish I could do that.

07

Michael Connelly

Bosch is a crime series with real passion.  He does what's right in spite of the obstacles placed in front of him or threats from everyone around him.  It's an captivating series to read.

08

George Orwell - 1984 & Animal Farm

The stories George describes are the picture of human treatment.  How the effects of tyranny come from the intended solutions to tyranny.  He was disillusioned by the people he trusted and the form of government they wanted.  He witnessed how the changed when they assumed power.

09

The Garden of Eden - Ernest Hemingway

Hemingway wrote a sexually graphic novel in his later years.  He always found a way of touching on personal desires of his characters.  It might be from personal experience or his own desires the story comes about.  I loved it.

10

Beautiful and the Damned- The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald

An excellent creation of fiction.  Fitzgerald lived the life and most of the time lived the life he describes in his books giving the reader a personal and emotional feeling from the characters.  The brought to life the struggles of the wealthy in the 1920's and the want to be wealthy.  He is one of my most favorite authors.

11

Republicans Buy Sneakers too - Clay Travis

Clay has an interesting perspective on the political and social climate in sports.  He is an attorney with a love of sport and believes in the first amendment and boobs.

12

Vince Flynn Series

Rapp is a character with a conscience, but will kill, without remorse, those that intend to upset the everyday American and their safety.  Vince passed away too soon.  He had much to say through his characters.  This series is a good read.
